Christmas Pet Pictures Cancelled
For the past 30 years Dogwood Pet Mart has hosted Christmas photos featuring much loved pets and Santa or Mrs. Clause. It has become such an event that customers have been calling for appointments as early as October.
The premise for the event, aside from making families happy with the super cute pictures of their furry family members, has always been to raise money for local charities. They have never had a price structure; instead they have relied on the goodness of their customers' hearts and gladly accepted donations. Twenty four years ago when the new owner Greg Janicki took over the store, he refocused the donations so that every dollar went to our local SPCA.
In early February Mr. Janicki and his staff started prepping for the next year. The biggest job is putting the goodie bags together. They work tirelessly to ensure each bag is chalk full of treats, equipment, food and an assortment of other goodies. These bags are truly a treat for furry friends and humans alike and are handed out when their portrait are done.
As you can imagine scheduling can get complicated with pets of all kinds attending. In the past they have seen cats, dogs, birds, bunnies and some rodents. Getting everyone in and out happily and without incident is a big job.
With heavy hearts they have been forced to accept that, this year, it is just not possible. Despite their best efforts, COVID-19 rules and regulations are such that they have made the difficult decision to officially cancel the event. The health and safety of staff and customers is top priority for Mr. Janicki.
It is their sincere hope that they will be back in full swing for Christmas 2021. In the meantime, they are open to help with all your pets' needs 362 days of the year.
